- The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of motivation on employees’ performance using the case of the Civil Service in Mauritius. The main purpose of this study is to inquire on the different factors that influence employees’ motivation in Mauritius and to find out to which extent motivation affects the employee’s performance in the civil service. Employee motivation is considered as a force that drives the employees toward attaining specific goals and objectives of the organization. Today employee motivation is one of the sizzling issues in organizations since everyone wants to make the best use of their financial and human resources. The study used descriptive research design. The population of this study comprised of employees working in the civil service department in Mauritius. The sample size of the study was 500; however primary information for the study was collected from 267 civil servants by using a self-administered questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was used to determine the proportions and frequency of the variables. The results of the study showed that there exists a significant and positive relationship between employee motivation and employee performance.
